EdTech's Impact on Education:
A retrospective review of a generation of technology in education
An online seminar – May 11, 14, 18, 21, 2020
Computers and digital tools are today an integral part of the classroom. We’re now twenty years into the 21st century, and we still hear about the need for 21st century skills, skills that often demand knowledge of digital technologies and their use. Innovation, and disruption, are still in demand because, we’re told, education is too slow to change. But though the computer and digitality are today well established in the classroom (and in the “virtual” classroom) it seems that these tools succeed more in serving traditional educational models than they succeed in changing education.
This online seminar will examine what has, and what hasn’t, changed in education through the use of computers in the classroom. It will present a critical perspective on the ways they are presently being used, while also pointing to where there are still rays of hope for real educational change.
Lecturers, teachers, teacher trainers, researchers, educators, and policy-makers in the field of ‘The Use and Integration of ICT in Education’.
